What is a Hula umbrella?

Can I use a Hula umbrella at the beach?

Yes — but only the Hula 210cm Beach Umbrella is designed specifically for the beach.

It features a quick-twist sand anchor, lighter frame, and 3-way tilt for flexible shade on the coast.

The 240cm and 275cm Market Hula umbrellas are for patios, decks, gardens, and poolside — not for sand use.

What is the difference between the Hula 210cm, 240cm, and 275cm?

Hula 210cm Beach Umbrella – Lightweight, portable, includes tilt + twist anchor for beach use.

Hula 240cm Market Umbrella – Wider canopy for home and poolside, wind-vented, UPF-rated, non-beach.

Hula 275cm Market Umbrella (Crank Lift) – Our largest Hula; ideal for dining tables, lounges, and commercial outdoor settings.

Each size offers the same raffia-style look, but with features tailored to where you’ll use it most.

Are raffia umbrellas waterproof?

Raffia-style umbrellas are water-resistant, not fully waterproof.

They provide excellent shade and light rain protection, but during heavy or prolonged rain, we recommend closing and storing your umbrella to maintain the integrity of the raffia fibres and frame.

Do Hula umbrellas fit into standard umbrella stands?

Yes — the Hula Market Umbrellas fit standard umbrella bases.

They are designed with a 3.5cm pole diameter, which is compatible with most NZ umbrella stands and table centre holes.

For best stability, we recommend using a minimum 25–30kg umbrella base for the 240cm model and 35kg+ for the 275cm crank-lift model.
